Extreme Risk Protection Orders

Extreme Risk Protection Orders (sometimes called a "red flag" law or abbreviated ERPO) are a tool to temporarily disarm someone who has become a danger to themselves or others.

Family members, law enforcement, or a medical professional can file a petition with the court to grant an Extreme Risk Order. A judge will then determine if the order is warranted.
